THE "JOOLA"

To a friend who disapeared in the shipwreck of the " Joola" boat with about more than one thousand lives.

Thursday, September 26th , 2002 ( Senegal )

You were ready to depart
And in your eyes I could see
That you were fascinated by the Sea
Which you considered God's best work of art.
We were saying goodbye, gladly
On that day, I'd always remember sadly.
Why should, from the sea, come the evil?
What has turned an angel into a devil?
This shipwreck is a destin we can't fight;
It has turned our days into long and cold nights
This ship has sunk with inside a friend of mine
Since then, the sun, for me doesn't shine.
I know I will never see you again
That's why my heart is so full of pain
Like lost goods which will never be found
Like dead flowers lying withered on the ground
For ever you've gone...
For ever I'll be alone...
Whenever I look at your picture in the frame
I feel that live will never be the same
When I sleep I can't help calling your name
And to forget my sorrow
I say to myself you'll come back tomorrow
